Why does an ERP application need a “Multilanguage” option?

Whether you are a major global player or just a dynamic start-up and big ambitions, you’ll find at least 2-3 reasons why your ERP application should work in multilanguage mode.

Your sponsor uses another language

This could be the number one reason. Money speaks. Whether you are funded by business angels or by a credit, those who invest may require reporting in their language as a condition for funding. And even if they do not impose this requirement, it is better to think of a multilanguage ERP to greatly improve your business climate.

The business works locally, but some of the employees speak different languages

People have always moved from one country to another and continue to do so today. There are many expats in Romania: in Cluj there are a large group of professionals coming from the Czech Republic, thousands of French people come to work or study, and there are many Italians in Timisoara, except for Germans, Hungarians and Serbians. Not to mention the multitude of languages spoken by the expatriates in Bucharest!

This is common nowadays, so it’s logical to want to avoid any unpleasant situation caused by an easy to avoid translation error.

Your business works globally

If your business operates in different countries where different languages are spoken, you absolutely need a multilanguage ERP. English is lingua franca today, and many people from all over the world teach it in schools. But many can not do their daily English work, so their mother tongue is needed for a global business. Even English (as we know it from school) is no longer global: populations in Australia and the United States speak English, but local dialects may be quite different.

Your customers work in different languages

Even if you only have a limited business area, your customers can be global and may need a multilanguage ERP. Certainly you will want to make sure that invoices are easily understood and that all logistics or technical specifications do not pose any language problems.

Your suppliers are from all over the world

You want, for example, to buy a widget123. You want, when you get to get it, get the version you need and not the Indian one, for example. Communication and, above all, a good understanding of specifications and purchase orders is as important as possible.

You have considerable legal requirements related to compliance

National and local authorities want to know that you are fulfilling your obligations in relation to your business – language can become another barrier to compliance. A good corporate citizenship implies performing reporting obligations wherever you do business, so you need to put the multilanguage ERP to do the hard work.

You must report people in their own language

This is a “all other” category. An ERP that knows how to communicate in multiple languages has the role of transmitting information to all citizens with whom you enter into business contacts.

WME multilanguage

That’s why, 25 years after the beginnings of MENTOR applications, we have crossed the borders and we are able to offer all the functionality of WinMENTOR ENTERPRISE® to ERP users who do not have Romanian as their mother tongue. We took the first step with the English version, already well-known to our customers. In the fall of this year we will finish the second step – WinMENTOR ENTERPRISE® in Italian.

For the third step, we think of meeting our substantial portfolio of clients in Transylvania, to whom we will propose a version of WME in Hungarian, a version that should be available before the end of 2018.

Happy multilanguage everyone!
